Gothic Geometry: Trefoil Construction

I spent more time than I’d care to admit this week teaching myself to do basic animation in After Effects so that I could put together this compass-and-ruler construction of a Gothic trefoil window. (Some people go to Miami for spring break, I stare at a computer for seven hours straight while watching documentaries on the history of British food. It’s a glamorous life, I know.)

More compass-and-ruler constructions to follow; I’m really enjoying the challenge of explaining geometric construction through visuals alone, and I have several cathedrals’ worth of stonemasonry to practice on.
